MTatHome has been in the medical transcription training business since 1997 and we are a Christian owned company.

MTatHome has had great success of assisting people in working at home in the Medical Transcription Career Field for 15 years.

When we decided to put our Medical Transcription Training Company on the Internet over 10 years ago; we did a lot of research about other MT training companies. We wanted to compare the prices of the educational courses, what they offered verses the price of what it really took to train the students and the cost of supporting the students throughout their course training.

We found that some of the Medical Transcription Schools online were way over priced for what it actually cost to train each student successfully!

After doing a lot of research; we decided to keep our medical transcription training rates as reasonable as possible so that it gives those that are serious about becoming a medical transcriptionist from home; a chance to do so without breaking their bank or having to get a loan to learn new career skills.

So what did MTatHome do to help lower the high training costs?

We lowered our regular medical transcription course prices to what they are on the web site now. There are times that we will have sales to help others get into the career at a discounted rate. You will need to check the web site for any current sales and always refresh/reload the site.

The reason for lowering our regular rates is because of the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001. When 9-11-01 happened it hit real close to home for the owner of MTatHome!

Not only did our staff know people that were affected by 9-11-01, we also were affected by it personally when the owner of MTatHome had friends and family members that she could not get in touch with for days. One of them was suppose to be working in one of the buildings that were hit that day and by the grace of God this person had not made it there yet when everything happened. However; the owner, Julie did not know that and was worried sick until she finally heard everything was okay.

When something like this happens to the world, we get very sad and upset and want to graciously help in any way that we can; however, when it happens to you or your close family / friends you really have a wake up call!

The fear of not knowing if your loved ones are okay or not; as well as watching all the people scared for the ones they loved not knowing if they made it out of the situation okay or not. Sadly, a lot of them did not make it out okay! Just like when the bombing in the Oklahoma building several years ago took many lives and many children's lives that were in the daycare downstairs.

When a thing like this happens, you really have to sit back and look at your life and also find ways that you can help out other people.

Therefore; we got with our staff, and discussed how we could assist other people to work from their home so that they do not have to work inside of an office building each day. We are not saying there is anything wrong with working in an office building; however, some people just prefer to work at home. Especially after Sept.11th.

There are other reasons people may choose to want to work at home such as they may have children that they definitely want to have at home with them instead of having to enroll their children in a daycare facility. This allows the parent(s) to be with them each day and watch them grow and be there to assist them in learning while also being able to "work from home" as well.

Please do not get me wrong; working at home in Medical Transcription with children can be very challenging at times especially if you have a deadline to meet. This is why a lot of stay at home parents that work at home will sometimes hire a baby-sitter to come into their home to watch their children while they get the work completed or they set up a routine that the parents will work when the children are napping, playing in their room(s), etc. Having a quiet room which is used only for working is a good idea. You will need a quiet room to listen to your medical dictations while transcribing, or to make your business calls from. It really helps out if you have someone there to tend to the little ones while you are working in your office!

I have gotten off the subject of our course costs; however, I wanted to let you know the different ideas on working at home as an MT with children.

Back to the subject of why and how we can offer training at the price we do:  

 When we got together with our staff; we discussed the different ways we could cut the cost of the medical transcription course expenses so that we could also help the new student to be able to afford a legitimate course. I say legitimate course because you have to be very careful now days in purchasing any type of "work at home" training programs. There are so many SCAMS out there and the Internet has only made it easier for these Scam Artists to attempt to manipulate people into purchasing their product!

The cost of their products does not necessarily mean that it is or is not a RIP OFF any more because there are scams out there that are under $200.00 and there are also Scams out there that are over $1000.00! Therefore; be VERY careful!

We are very active in watching out for the many SCAMS out there on the Internet trying to Sale their "so called MT Training or work at home programs".

When a company willingly submits a job to us which is not a "REAL" job; we remove the submission and ban that company from ever submitting to our company ever again if they ask for money to "hire".

We also offer “used medical transcription courses” that you can purchase at a discounted rate. They do not come with a foot pedal; however, some people may already have one or choose to buy the foot pedal on their own.

We continue to try and find ways to help our future students save money on their enrollment. While we cannot offer medical transcription training for free; we can try to offer it at the best rate we possibly can.

Another way that we save you money is that we keep all of our course information on our web site for people to view online instead of mailing out expensive brochures or large booklets. We also do not spend a lot of money on advertising as many companies may do. We limit our advertising to the Internet and newspapers. However; our largest advertisement is by word of mouth of other students that have taken our course and are happy with the results. We have had a lady enroll 3 of her daughters at different times; mother and daughters taking our course, friends, etc. We see a lot of our enrollments come from recommendations of others that have taken the course and are now working as MTs.

A lot of other course companies will advertise by Mail, TV, Radio, in addition to the Internet which is very costly, and therefore they have to find a different way to recover those costs by charging more for the course packages.

We are not saying that we are the only good and reputable Medical Transcription School because we are NOT the only ones!
There are many good Medical Transcription Schools out there; you will just have to do your research and decide which one you will want to go through.
